about me

Hi, I'm Olivia, a creative who loves the process. Ideation and research are my bread and butter, and I love to find deep meaning behind each one of my design choices. I am an advocate for women's rights and try to incorporate social good in my designs whenever possible. Even though I grew up as an iPad kid, I love tactile experiences, physical print processes, collecting vinyl, fiber art, and just about any design that I can get my hands on. I value unique markmaking and love to see an artist's touch in their work. I have my B.F.A in graphic design from Chapman University :)

Design Philosophy

Dolly Parton once said, “Find out who you are and do it on purpose,” which encapsulates the essence of purpose-driven design. Purposeful decisions are the decisions that elevate design and create change. Design should look at problems creatively; it shouldn't just follow a trend; it needs to have value and purpose.

Design and the need to create are everywhere. A child picking up their first crayon or a grandmother knitting a wool hat are just some small acts of design. However, while design wills the world around us, it is also meant to inspire and challenge our knowledge and perception of the world. For example, Massimo Vignelli took an abstract look at the subway maps in New York and realized they could be better. Although controversial initially, he challenged the transportation system that continues to define New York and made an incredible difference that shifted the perspective on what design could do and be.

Shifting a perspective is what the designer forces us to do. Making a small change in type, a lighter tint in a color, or resizing an image on a page, and the whole meaning of what we’re looking at changes. But change alone is not enough. What we as designers do with change and how we use our designs to make the change is what is important. Our intention and our skill in defining that intention are what makes a design successful or not.

My aim as a designer is to inspire people through my designs to make a positive change in themselves and the world around them. Spreading positivity while striving to uncover realities, push boundaries, and be progressive.
